new to REI, Denver and the US

Hello everyone,
before i introduce myself i like to thank everyone for the huge amount of information that everybody put together on this website. It is such a great help for someone like me who is just getting started.
My name is Sebastian and i was born and raised in Germany. I worked in several different industries (army, corporate,...) i ended up working as chief engineer in the luxury super yacht business. I met my American wife in Australia a couple of years ago. We both worked and lived there and decided to move back to the states for the birth of our son. I'm still working on yachts 2x 3month a year overseas and as most of you can imagine, its tough being away for such a long time, especially now that a 2nd baby is on the way. Because of my job i am extremely skilled and i have a lot of fun fixing and building things myself. I am planing on doing about 2-4 houses a year on the side in my 3 month off work, me doing a fair bit myself. My ultimate goal obviously is quitting my job and being able to invest full time and letting contractors and other people do most of the work so i can enjoy spending time with my family. That's why i thought it would be a good idea to get started here. I read a lot of books, blogs, forums and homepages and learned a lot but i think nothing beats a good old fashion hands on experience. I will be moving to the Denver area in about 2-3 week and greatly appreciate some help or being pointed in the right direction to get started. Maybe someone knows of REI clubs around Denver where i could meet and network with people. Or someone who would like to partner up for a couple of deals. Any help is greatly appreciated.
