Hi – I’m a newbie investor from Columbus, Ohio. I’m interested in single family and multi unit properties to rent out on Airbnb (and other short term rental sites).

My background is that I’ve been a longtime reader of the many financial independence blogs. I’ve had a goal of achieving financial independence, not so much to stop working, but to be able to work much more flexibly.

Somewhere along the way I discovered REI as a much quicker and more interesting path to financial independence and after a year or so of reading different guides and blogs it seems way past time to get involved in the community.

One aspect I’m particularly interested in is non-traditional financing. I’m a Ph. D student, which means my income is quite low, though I do have savings from previous jobs and frugal living. I’m curious to learn about financing options that would fit my situation.

Thanks!

I’m excited to get to know this community.

-Shai
