Newbie Investor in Seattle Area

Matthew Braun
Posted

Greetings BP members!

My name is Matthew Braun and family and I live in the Seattle WA area. My background is in software engineering and have worked for some amazing companies over the past 15 years or so of my career. I recently found and joined the BP community and I am excited to further my REI knowledge along with my wife to start and grow our REI business we are planning on starting. Our rental experiences started when we bought our first SFH and moved out of and rented our town house in 2012. We managed it ourselves up until around 2015 when we moved to the bay area and we partnered with a PM company to manage both our SFH and our town house. Due to a plethora of issues with the town house we sold it in 2017 and in 2018 we moved back into our SFH here in the Seattle area.

We are looking to formalize our business into an appropriate entity structure (recommendations for a local attorney are definitely welcome!) and dive into our new venture. Our short term goal (6 months or less) is to identify and acquire a rental property, either SFH or duplex, in the Seattle or Spokane areas that will net us an acceptable positive cash flow (we are still working on defining what is 'acceptable' for us).

I am always down to get a cup of coffee and meet new folks here in Seattle so please don't be shy! I look forward to growing with all of you here on BP!

Matthew
