New to BP and looking to get started in real estate.

Hello, all! My name is Josh Davis and I am posting on BP for the first time. I have been listening to the podcasts for about 2 weeks now and feel like I am addicted (in a good way). One of the things that Josh and Brandon talked about was to go to the BP forum and introduce yourself. So here I go:

I recently separated from the Navy after 13 years of honorable service. I loved my job, I was a Navy Diver, but it was time to settle down and raise our kids. My wife and I built a house in Northeast Florida (Yulee) about 3 years ago for $91 per square foot and the market is averaging between $125-$135 per square foot now (2,200 sq. ft. home). We used some of the equity in our home to purchase a business about a year ago and that is what my wife does full time now. I thought that I would finish my business degree and start a career in finance once I got out but quickly realized that most of the people in that industry are miserable. No offense to anyone in that industry. While in business school, I decided to take a class in real estate and it changed everything for me. My professor, who is an active broker and investor, seemed so energetic and passionate about real estate that I became interested to know more. I thought anyone who has that sort of sustained energy and motivation about their industry after so many years must be having fun. That's when I found BP and realized that many other people in the real estate industry have that same energy. I decided that was where I needed to be and will be taking my associate licensing exam after this semester is over.

My primary goals on BP are to learn about real estate and meet other agents, investors, and vetreprenuers like myself that are highly motivated and energetic about what they do. I reside in Yulee, FL but would love to network with anybody in the Northeast Florida region. Just in the short time that I have been on BP, I already met an up and coming broker in my area that wants to partner with me once I get my license. I can't wait to meet others here as I begin my journey into real estate. I also hope to contribute in a positive way and give back as so many others on here have done and continue to do. My glass is empty, please help me fill it!
