Beau Bray Introduction

Beau B. Bray

Posted

Good morning everyone,

I just wanted to introduce myself.  My name is Beau, and I'm very interested in being a buy and hold investor for passive income in the future.

I've been lurking on the forums for awhile.  I'm still in my "education" phase.  Mostly because I'm very risk adverse, and still trying to come up with reserve money for the inevitable expenses that occur when owning a rental.

I'm in the Hampton Roads area in Virginia and work in northern Virginia near Maryland.  My commute to work is 96 miles so I listen to A LOT of audiobooks and podcasts.

I'm a Navy vet, and currently own a single family home that I purchased with my VA loan benefits. I've recently thought about using my VA loan again in the future to try to find a 4-plex in my area. Keeping one unit vacant and living in it for a year, but I still want some money available for expenses, and some debt paid down before that.

My ultimate goal is to do real estate investing full time, living off of passive income.  I really want to work for myself.  Instead of driving 96 miles to work for someone else.

Thanks for reading, I'm sure I rambled a bit.

- Beau

@Beau B. Bray welcome to BP!

Welcome to BP, and congratulations on making the decision to invest in your future via real estate.

I have written a few blog posts that may help you get started here on BP, and with your investing. Please click on the links, give them a read, and share your thoughts in the comments.

First is a post that I feel will help not get overwhelmed with the amount of info that is here on BP:

https://www.biggerpockets.com/blogs/5868/52761-the-simple-guide-to-getting-started-on-bp

The second is a post that will help get you focused with your real estate investing goals:

The last one is a post that will help you choose an “investor friendly” real estate agent. There are many agents out there, but it’s important to choose the right one.

I have other blogs that may be helpful here on BP in my personal blog that you can check out. Good luck :)
