Newbie investor traveling the country in search of opportunity

Hello everyone!  I'm Logan Gill from Murfreesboro, TN.  I've been a Bigger Pockets fan/listener for a while now but it's time to finally engage and get off the sidelines.  Professionally, I've been a full-time firefighter for over fifteen years and I've been around real estate investing since I was young but had never really gotten serious about it (a bit more detail about this in my profile).  My wife and I decided a few years ago that the "normal" life was not something that we wanted to live simply because we could.  Earlier this year we sold most of our material possessions, left our jobs, and began traveling around the country in search of opportunity and adventure.  That may seem careless to some, but to us it would have been much more careless to continue living the comfortable/complacent lifestyle that we had created for ourselves.  We had good jobs, zero debt (including our home/land/1 rental property), and I had just completed my undergrad degree program with no specific plan for how to apply it; there is certainly nothing wrong with any of those things but needless to say, we simply wanted more.

Our hope while traveling the country for the next year or so is to connect with other investors  and develop a real estate business/portfolio that supports the simple, yet adventurous, lifestyle that we want to live while also helping others to do the same.  We're currently in the Western part of the U.S. on our search for a good market and the place we want to call home.  I'll be looking for meet-ups as we pass through different cities/states, so I look forward to meeting many of you.  Cheers!
