Hey! I'm uneducated, lost, and poor, at least I was nearly a year ago. I'm 28 and a community college dropout. I'm a Plant Manager at a sand and gravel mine working 65-80 hour weeks and have been in the industry since I was 17. I'm highly specialized and very good at what I do. I work a safe, secure, well paying, dead end job. Even though there is still room for promotions and different job titles. The feeling of time evaporating with no personal progress is my bane and I live with that feeling everyday. Fortunately my brother introduced me to Rich Dad, June of 2017. My relentless drive to self educate has been going strong ever since. I always knew I needed to be something more than a drone that goes to my job every day. I needed to have an impact on my self, my family, and my community. As much as I was hoping to have an epiphany in college there was nothing that grabbed me. Audiobooks and the BP podcasts have been my fuel. I go through a healthy balance of mindset books and realestate focused books/podcasts and it helps keep me grounded and driven. February 28th 2018 my brother(business partner) and I closed on our first property. A split entry single family home with the potential to turn into a duplex. In a town that is truly beginning to come into it's own. The home needed relatively significant renovations which is what we wanted in a first property. We needed to make mistakes and learn. The numbers are acceptable and modest but the education has been significant and after failing to come to a deal with two other properties we were happy to get our hands dirty. We went with an FHA loan and are doing a house hack which left cash on the table to do the needed renovations so we could refinance our capital out of the property next year and move onto something else. We are now beginning to look for property #2 which will be a multifamily deal. We have a long term buy and hold strategy in multifamily and single family properties with the intent to make generational wealth for our families.

Glad to know you, Blade! The Olympia market is really fun and still has room to grow (with respect to other larger Puget Sound communities). Thurston county is predicted to grow by 100k residents in the next 20 years--that's 40%! Where are they all going to live? I'm bullish on the long-term market here and I'm scooping up houses and multis, too. Go get 'em!
