First Time in Real Estate Looking into Multifamily in El Paso, TX

Hello All,

I am new to BiggerPockets and to Real Estate in general, and have decided to take the big leap and enter my first deal! I am a 29 year-old physician, have a young family in tow, and am hoping to become the proud owner-occupant of a multi-unit property.

As it happens, I will be moving to El Paso, TX in several months and am eligible for the VA Loan benefit. As I understand, using this benefit would allow me to purchase a property of up to 4 units with no money down.I am wondering if anyone might have tips on good neighborhoods, local banks/title companies, RE Agents, etc.

My short-term goal is to reduce costs of living by having my mortgage paid by tenants, then later using my disposable income to fund additional deals. I would likely enlist the service of a property management company  even if it cuts into cash flow (time/headache saved well worth the cost to me).

Any help/advice/encouragement is much appreciated. Specifically, any recommendations for a good real estate agent with VA Loan and Multifamily experience/knowledge would be most helpful. I really look forward to hearing from you, and thank you for taking the time to read my post!
