Looking to get started, but I live in Morris County, NJ!

Hello Bigger Pockets Forum! I am an aspiring investor, I am a dentist in Morris County, NJ that would like to diversify my investment portfolio by starting a small real estate portfolio and see where it goes from there. I set a goal of having one property by the end of 2018. I’ve been doing my research, starting with Rich Dad, Poor Dad, and Building Wealth One House at a Time. First step for me is to identify the market I want to begin my search in. Unfortunately, the local market seems to be too cost prohibitive to obtain a low cost rental property with cash flow due to the extremely high property taxes in my area. Anyone have any suggestions on areas that I should look into?
