Greetings, I've been reading as much as I can , listening to podcast and watching webinars to try and get a better understanding of the real estate investing game. Boy do I have a lot to learn.
A little about me: I'm 53 and have been in the automotive repair business for 35 years, starting out as a tech and moving into management years later. I have worked for the same company for 19 years and we've grown to 15 locations. Thru hard work I've worked my way into partnership in 3 of those locations. We've recently sold and it will net me a couple 100k. I'm really wanting to make this money work well for me. I have a decent 401k and have no credit card debt to speak of.
I've been looking to invest in the Columbus area with some buy and holds. I have some "boots on the ground" so to speak in that area ... my brother owns a home inspecting business there and has done a few flips and has a few rentals ( so he has a GC he trusts and a property mngt company he's happy with.
I believe everything has risk, I'm an avid skydiver and scuba diver so risk is ok as long as I'm trained in the are that I'm taking risk in. I like to learn everything thing I can to minimize risk(if that makes sense lol). There's a saying in skydiving..."you don't even know what you don't know" ( which I've read here a few times) and with over 1300 jumps I'm still learning...
I appreciate any tips and information from this community and look forward to continuing to learn all I can
