Hi my name is John Te, 27, personal trainer. I was initially saving for a house of my own but now I am interested in rental properties, I've always like the idea of a vacation home and I think this is the path to take to eventually get there. My goal is to eventually have more than one rental property in different areas, I don't know how to get started. Doing my own research I found Bigger Pockets on YouTube and started watching. Looking forward to learning from this community!

Hey @John Te and welcome to the BP community! Glad you've taken the red pill and see the path to true financial freedom! I'm also in NJ and a semi-newb. I started educating myself back in January and originally planned to flip houses for income (I left corporate america). I've pivoted and now my strategy is to pick up buy and holds for long-term wealth and will flip or wholesale when those deals present themselves. My advice to you is to read as much as you can here and through books, podcasts, youtube (great for motivational kicks in the rear) and whatever you can get your hands on.

Also, network, network, network!!! There's a great Real Estate Investors group called SJREIA (South Jersey Real Estate Investors Association). Try to make it out to as many events as you can. There's pracatically 2-3 meetings per week! Great topics, speakers, and people there to help get you started, inspire you, and give you an idea of what to do next.

Check out the site and their calander of events: www.sjreia.org

There are a couple of big meetings coming up next week. Cherry Hill is the main one (big Expo on Tuesday) and one in Princeton Thursday.

Hope to see you there!

Erik
