Hi Everyone, Bigger Pockets is AWESOME!
My name's Iain (Pronounced as 'ian' is)I've listened to between 30 and 50 BP podcasts, I plan to have them finished by the end of the year. I can't believe such a phenomenal resource was literally a couple clicks away!!
I have some experience in real estate from subletting the home I rent. I charged a flat rate for a bedroom and managed everything else, including grounds/house keeping.
I currently work a full time job that pays between 40k and 50k a year. It's not much money, but, I set my own hours and I'm paid to drive throughout the Metro Detroit Area.
My plan is to get my real estate license, start working as a realtor while working my current job and starting up a duplex to house hack or purchasing a single family home as a primary residence which I can flip a couple years later (to take advantage of the tax break on capital gains). Once I have access to the MLS and feel comfortable selling/buying homes I also want to flip houses. I know it can be tough but I'm pretty sure I'll like doing. I like managing projects from different angles, I like making deals, I like taking something run down and making it great again.
So, to end with a question: does anyone have suggestions for a real estate license school around Detroit? I want to get started as soon as I can!
