Foundation Issues - Need advice from someone that's been there
Hi there. I am a new investor diving into a couple of flips in in Galveston, TX. I got a couple of houses that need some adjustments to the foundation. These are 1950 era houses on pier and beams, and some of the piers need to be straightened up to level a section of the house.
I got a general construction permit for the remodel, but I am wondering if I will need some kind of foundation inspection after I get it fixed, to make sure it meets windstorm insurance requirements or not. I found a copy of the "Texas Department of Insurance - Windstorm Resistant Construction Guide", and after looking through it, I can tell you that these 1950's house don't meet the guidelines. Anyone have any experience with this? Do I even need to worry about it?
