Modesto, CA needed an experience real estate agent

My husband and I are new to real estate investment. We have been reading real estate books and listen to the BP podcasts and it fascinates us. We currently live at Modesto, California and want to start to invest in multi-family housing that will provide a positive cash flow. Since this will be our first purchase, we would want our real estate agent to have also investment experience to help us out. Please let me know if you know someone in the area. Or if I find a agent myself, how can I tell if the agent is good, or how do you pick your agent? Thank you very much!
