New Students to BP. Dallas/Fort Worth
Hello BP friends,
My wife and I have always had it in our vision to end up in some capacity in REI. We live in the North Fort worth/Keller TX area or locally known as (Alliance center). I recently worked in the Oil/natural gas industry for 3 years and was laid off last year at this time. During that time I was finishing my degree via my company dime (part-time) at UNT in Denton, TX. I am now finishing my degree full-time and work part time in Dallas for a commercial millworker. My wife has a fantastic job in Southlake, Tx and we love the area and people in it! We have really been energized about getting started and really diving into doing our homework before we do our first deal. Im looking forward to learning more from you all. Thanks for all your help and input via BP so far!
@Chad Harrison, congratulations on making the move towards your dreams. I commend you on continuing school even though the circumstances you faced. You live in a great area, although not ideal for investing. Plan on flip or rentals? Whats the short and long terms goals? Let me know if I can help.
Welcome Chad, if you haven't done so yet, this is a wealth of information for starting out:
Ultimate Beginner's Guide to Real Estate Investing
And try to join some REI meetups, there are a few good ones in FW.
Best of luck.
Welcome to Bigger Pockets. The Bigger Pockets book store if full of great books: https://www.biggerpockets.com/store
Thank you! We would like to flip down the road as sophisticated investors, more as a profitable passion. Our main focus is rental or lease to own options.
Thank you for the recommendation!
Yea man, that guide has been a great start. I also am a veracious podcast consumer of, of course @Joshua Dorkin and so many different stations, audio books as well! I encourage everyone to check out the BP podcast and others like it.
Welcome Chad! Glad to know more investors in my area. Your success will depend mostly on your long term level of motivation. I wish you the best in this fascinating field, and feel free to ask questions, especially as it relates to our area, I'm happy to help.
