New member from Scottsdale Arizona
Hello All,
My name is Chelsea and I am a new to the world of real estate investing. I came across Bigger Pockets after reading several real estate investing & rehabbing books. A little bit about myself...I was born and raised in Westchester, NY (about 45 minutes north of Manhattan) and currently have a career in Interior Design & Textile Sales, with an extensive background in residential design & construction. Both of my businesses are based out of Manhattan, but give me the luxury of working anywhere in the world. I will be moving to Scottsdale sometime later in 2017, but for now will be spending a few weeks at a time here and there transitioning my businesses and getting involved with potential rehabs & flips.
I am looking to leave the hustle and bustle of New York to live a different quality of life (oh yeah and to hopefully never see snow again!), and I have always loved the Arizona lifestyle. Fortunately, my boyfriend was born and raised in Tempe and currently has a home in Scottsdale, as well as a few investment properties in Tempe. Other than a quick year at ASU back in my late teens, I have spent quite a bit of time in Arizona the past few years and have grown to love it. My boyfriend and I are planning to work together to utilize my expertise in construction and design, as well as his local knowledge. We would like to meet other like minded people, share contacts and get the scoop of whats going on in our neighborhood.
Look forward to meeting a bunch of new people and learning as much as I can along the way. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi @Chelsea Garber, welcome to BP!
I live in Tempe and own rentals here as well. I'm sure with your experience you will be able to create some beautiful flips and remodels. Even if you have to use less expensive stuff for the some of the flips, your skills will make them shine in staging!
If you ever have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out to me personally and post on the BP forums. For flipping specifically I recommend J. Scott's The Book on Flipping Houses and The Book on Estimating Rehab Costs (https://get.biggerpockets.com/flippingbook/)
