Hamilton, Bermuda... Absolute Beginner

Hi BiggerPockets,

My name is Antione and I'm completely new to Real Estate investing. I guess before i get into anything else I should make known 2 things. 1, I live in Bermuda. Its an island just off America's East Coast, the flight is about 2-3 hrs from Atlanta. And 2, to be brutally honest, I'm dirt poor. I'm 25 and have nothing but a part time job and a bus pass. I took interest in real estate after a conversation with an older coworker not too long ago, and after doing some research both in books and on BiggerPockets, I decided I want to buy and hold apartments and other multifamily buildings. Any advice on how to further my education or getting started would be greatly appreciated.

(Oh, I should mention for a few reasons I am NOT looking to purchase in Bermuda. I want to purchase in America, I read that it's legal for Non-US residents to do it. Is that true?)
