Real Estate Investors in Columbus, Ga

I am just getting into Real Estate Investing after retiring from the Military. My Family and I remained in Columbus Ga after being Stationed at Fort Benning for 10 years.  I am wondering if there is any investors in or around Columbus,Ga that my wife and I could get some pointers on some of the hurdles I will face when Investing in this area.
