Hello BP Community,

I am ecstatic to be part of such a community. I am currently saving money and taking steps toward making my first purchase within a year. I am looking in the Saint Paul and surrounding area to buy a Duplex. I plan on mainly focusing on buy and hold investing for the first couple years and see where the investing takes me.

I have been listening to Podcasts, reading Rich Dad Poor Dad (since every podcasts recommends it), and looking at listing on the various Real Estate sights.

I would love to connect with any locals that have invested/want to invest in the area or knows about neighborhoods, rents, taxes, etc.

I would love to ask the community (experienced or a newbie) a question and feel free to answer below (if you want):

What do you wish you could tell past self before you embarked on your investing journey?

Thanks! I am looking forward to talking and connecting with you all.

Past self: maybe don't spend 60k on a liberal arts degree that you use in only the most tangential way.

That could be a property free and clear!

Real estate related: research and reading and learning is important but it does not equal action.
