New member interested in multi-family props

I am interested in investing in multi-family rental properties.  I'd like to generate income since I will be retiring in the next year or so.  I live in Southern California where property values are high however I could be interested in out of state properties also. I own a shared multi family property in Chicago, IL; however prop taxes are very high there but I could be interested in properties there also.
