Newbie from Glenside, PA (Just outside of Philadelphia)

Hi all My name is Mike Badin.  I am a very new real estate investor having just obtained my first rental property in January 2015.  The property has 5 garages, 1 small barn and two apartments.  It also has a basement that I am considering converting to a third unit.  Need to run some numbers on it to see if it is actually worth it.  Any guidance as to any resources that could help me evaluate is greatly appreciated.  

Although I strive to become a full time investor I do still have a day job as a Field Staff Insurance Adjuster. I have been an adjuster for about 14 years with the last two years primarily dealing with properties in the REO, foreclosure/ pre-foreclosure and vacant properties. I inspect the properties and determine what damages exist and complete an accurate estimate to repair the damages.

Prior to being an Insurance Adjuster I served 8 years in the Marine Corps as a Military police office, and yes I was overseas and yes I am a combat vet.  Not all my years in the Marines were fun but they have helped shape me into the man I am today.  For that I am great-full to all The men and women I served with.

After purchasing my first rental property I was researching REI and stumbled across BP. (THANK GOD!). I have learned more in the last week on this site than I did in the previous year without BP. It is amazing to me that so many seasoned investors are not just willing to help others but actually want too. Thank you to all you seasoned REI veterans.

On a personal level I am a Christian.  I believe that Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior.  I try to live my life in a way that would make Him proud to call me is son.  As all other sinners I do fail; but thanks to His grace I am cleansed and welcomed into His arms.
