Hey all, my name is Steve Booty (yes, really).

The post-graduate school job thing is working out quite well and I plan on keeping my career growing. In a few years time I will be a Professional Geologist in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania! But the whole 8 to 5 deal is kind of weak. I would rather do... well, anything else. My best buddy started his own photography business and it got me thinking: "what can I do that can make me some side cash?" He and I started a science website but that doesn't pay, it's just fun (like how Brandon Turner likes to write about RE I like to write about science!).

I've been eyeing up REI for a while until my dad mentioned something over Mother's day dinner - he only paid 40k for our rental property near Ocean City and the income from that helped put my bother and I through college. That's what set me on this path and when I stumbled upon BP!

I've been renting since college and I am currently in a year long lease. This should give me plenty of time to further educate myself about REI. Though, the first step is buying that first property to start building equity. Today I applied to get pre-qualified for a mortgage and I'll know tomorrow how it goes.

I'm looking forward to this new adventure and to learning what I can from this community!

Cheers.
