My Introduction Post

Hello BP community! I have been lurking around on the site for a few weeks and I figured it was time to write my introduction post. I consider myself very new to RE investing although I have been renting my properties for a couple of years. My first rental was a home that I paid off then moved out of due to work. The second rental is one I bought in Florida and after a year had to move overseas for work. Despite only owning the home for a year I figured it was better to rent for a couple years instead of taking a huge loss, especially since we will end up moving back to the same area after this overseas tour.

I have already learned a bit but I hope to learn a lot more from the interactions with other members here. I like the challenges that real estate offers and I know that with a lot of hard work I can acquire the skills and knowledge to be successful. I look forward to learning from and with you all.

So far I have been exploring the site and I have read The Ultimate Beginner's Guide to Real Estate Investing , Real Estate Rewind and I have been listening to The BiggerPockets Podcast. (I still have some more to go) I have listened to the podcast(s) a few times and now I have a new notebook and started taking notes from the books and the podcasts. (This helps me retain and learn info) I have also set up my Keyword Alerts and began to connect with some fellow members.

So far I really like BP not only for the opportunity to read about other people’s experiences and to be able to connect with them but for the great advice, tools and benefits people are willing to share. Thanks to@Brandon Turner and @Joshua Dorkin (and the rest of the moderators and donors) for creating the site and allowing the rest of us to connect and share.

Thank You @Joe FairlessI am planning to expand my portfolio. The difference is I hope to educate myself and do this intentionally and correctly. Before BP I would have just bought another SFR on the same street at my Raeford, NC house and hoped that it would cash flow. Thanks to BP I have a little more knowledge and will take a good hard look at the numbers and hopefully make a good buy. I have been all over the resources section and thanks to some pretty smart folks I have some tools I can use to analyze future deals. I have been looking for deals in Penasacola, FL as well as Panama City, Florida just because those locations are close to where I will be living next and I would like to do some driving and investigating in different neighborhoods to get a better understanding of what I would like to buy. Finally, I am really considering a multifamily property since I think that is something my family and I could benefit from.
