New and thirsty for REAL investment knowledge

I am a 33 year old man from the Tampa Bay Area of Fl. I am recently married and have 2 kids, 12 & 4. I currently work offshore in the Oil & gas industry in the Gulf of Mexico (out of Port Fourchon, LA) working a schedule of 28 days on and 14 days off (gone from home a month followed by 2 weeks at the house). I am interested in changing my schedule to 28/28 or equal time at work/home and investing in Real estate to supplement my income. My wife is not legal to work in this country yet but could be Instrumental in assisting me with the day to days of the project. At this point I am thinking about buy & hold duplexes, triplexes & quads in Hillsborough County Fl. I am hoping to buy places that will pay for themselves inside of 5 years and keep a steady stream of cash flowing. I have also seen what appear to be a couple good deals on recently renovated homes that are set up on the city of Tampa's Section 8 program.

I have a upcoming USCG exam to pass and my income will nearly double. Once I get this liscense upgrade I plan to swing for the Real Estate fences.

My name is Kerry Hennessy and thanks for the great opportunity to learn

Ps, I just discovered BP and I am on Podcast 15 already, great stuff!!!
