Active Duty military, so I move around...A Lot

I hope this finds you all in good spirits.

My name is Aaron. I am an active duty Army Warrant Officer currently stationed in Watertown, New York. My wife, Victoria, and I own a total of 6 houses; one we live in and one is a duplex, the rest are single family rentals. The rentals are spread across the states, from Arizona to Colorado to New York. An ultimate goal is to consolidate these rentals in one state when we retire. I am originally from Maine, so we will most likely stick around upstate New York.

We have been doing the rental thing for about 10 years now and have managed to break even (yes we are building equity but that is a delayed income). That is beginning to change, but it will take time. I am set to retire in a few years (7 years and 8 months…but who is counting) and hope to augment my military retirement with the rental incomes from our properties. I have found that it was easy to build our portfolio thanks to the military moving us around every few years. We are very interested in storage units.

I deploy more often than I like too, and find that searching the internet for properties is a type of therapy for me. When I do have spare time at home I like to make beer and wine.

I am looking forward to learning from you all.
