New to BRRR

hi! I am new to BiggerPockets and to BRRRR.

We are two high-income earners, with two full-time jobs that put is at a gross income above $600K/year. Most of our money has been invested in the stock market since we moved to the US in 2017, but we are looking to diversify and generate passive, long-term income. After a lot of evaluation, I believe BRRRR is our best option. I will be managing them as my full-time job is on the lighter side from a time investment standpoint.

I am currently based in North Jersey. I want to start with something local to learn and then can can build from there. Looking for:

1) Market suggestions that are ~2-3 driveable hours from North Jersey.

2) Any contacts I can connect with in the area.

Any recommendations or tips are welcomed! I tried looking for threads on this area but couldn't find much.
