New To REI From Prince George's County, MD
Greetings Everyone!
I am Shawnita Pair. You can call me Shawni. I live in Prince George's County, MD and I am new to real estate investing. I am here to learn how to get started and develop myself professionally as a real estate investor. I have a little bit of money and lots of time to learn the business. As of right now, my interests are in wholesaling and tax liens. I am a newbie so I want to start in areas that pose the least amount of risk while I learn.
My ultimate goals are to develop multiple streams of income in order to eliminate destructive debt; i.e. school loans, and to build a decent cushion for retirement, take care of my family (I've got a husband and two gorgeous girls), and own a dance fitness studio some day (I am a certified group fitness instructor).
I am curious to know what are the best zip codes in Prince George's County to research and explore in order to develop confidence in my ability to invest and make deals. Are there any seasoned investors here on BiggerPockets that invest in this area who might need an assistant? There is nothing like on the job training and as I mentioned previously, I am ready to learn.
Sincerely,
Shawni

Welcome to BP! My advice is to become active on forums and to join a local REIA (I will message you the name of one). This will lead to face-to-face introductions with the experienced investors you are looking for. Almost all of these folks are on BP, and meeting in-person will really set the ground for collaborative relationships.
Also, as many members of the site will tell you, posting on BP is in many ways like having constant access to a mentor. If you are ever unsure of a real estate decision or hit an obstacle, people on the forums are always willing to answer questions and steer you in the right direction.
Best of luck!
