About me post

Jason Benson
Posted

Hello, my name is Jason I'm very new to real estate and my goals are to start getting into rental companies and provide myself enough income to do it full time and quit my job.  I don't necessarily want to make billions of dollars I really just want enough to buy the house I've wanted since I was a kid and have enough to live comfortably the rest of my life.  Also am interested in land flipping.

Quote from @Jason Benson:

Welcome to the BiggerPockets forums!

The first thing to do is set realistic expectations. YouTube gurus will encourage you to buy 70 houses in one year. That's pie-in-the-sky malarkey. There are some that manage to find the money and the deals quickly when the market is just right (and they have plenty of cash), but most success is built slowly, over time.

Increase earnings, reduce expenses, save up, invest. While you are at it, learn how to manage your properties well because a large percentage of investors lose tons of money through rookie mistakes with non-paying tenants, unscrupulous contractors, long vacancies, etc.
