Do You Remember Your First Big Deal?

Sean Allen Fenn
Posted

For the longest time, it bothered me. If you have an entrepreneurial streak, maybe you can relate. Tired of chasing passions and trends, I had to wonder. What business is tried and true, is unlikely to become obsolete, is blessed by economies of scale, and above all has built-in cash flow ?

There’s another element that has to do with self-awareness. That is, what fits my personality archetype?

The data shows that I’m highly creative, mentally tough, composed, and highly adaptive. My personality type pairs well with someone who is reliable, focused, and great at planning.

Ok great. What problem am I trying to solve?

Generational wealth.

And how do people create generational wealth? By owning assets.

This is my thought process. Now, why not get to the point?

One day, I decided to give real estate my serious consideration. My father is a seasoned real estate professional with over 30 years of expertise in the industry. Growing up, I worked for his property management company. Last year, we attended a seminar to learn about syndications. He was excited because it was the business model he knows. Currently, he’s a realtor, but in the 1980s, he was a property manager for a big multifamily syndicator.

Confident that we can do this, I went ahead and persuaded him to form a holding company with me to buy real estate. We incorporated in August last year.

In conclusion, we’re now looking for our first deal. We’re also looking for team members, equity partners, motivated sellers, other investors, a bigger network, LP, sponsor, lawyers, capital, world peace, etc.
