I have zero real estate experience, and I am willing to learn and make contacts.

Good morning. My name is Jeremy, and I live in Northern CT. I am currently looking towards getting into real estate investing, and having absolutely zero experience I am coming to Bigger Pockets for help. Ive been looking for about a month now. My reason behind this besides making money obviously, is that I have about six years left until I retire from my career. I should probably add that I am currently in my 40s, and not 60s.. I will certainly need something else to keep me busy. Ive been eating up the podcasts daily, reading here on the forums and as of yesterday I have started reading the Long Distance Real Estate Investing book. My current plan, is to get into Ohio with rental properties. There are just too many markets that I feel are too expensive, or the threat of environmental hazards would keep me up at night. If I can get things going in Ohio, once I retire I can start in CT and the surrounding states, with flipping, or BRRR. I do have a contractors license, but my career is not in the trades. Currently I use it for myself, family and friends and not for profit.

I am specifically looking in Cincinnati, Columbus, maybe Dayton. Single Family Homes, and small multifamily homes. I have been to Ohio a few times, but never with a real estate investing mindset, only to visit friends. I am currently looking to make contact with people in the industry in those areas. I have a buddy local that I worked with for many years. He left our occupation, and went into real estate. He is licensed in a few states in New England, and has been invaluable so far with answering questions, and doing research. When it comes to purchasing properties in Ohio, he said he can’t do that but will help as much as he can. So I am looking for realtors, property managers, contractors as well as anything else I need????

Thank you all for your help. Just perusing the forums I have learned so much. I look forward to working with you guys, and hopefully someday I will be knowledgeable and experienced enough to return the favors…

This was cross posted, as in my obvious newb status to this forum my original post was in the wrong spot...

    @Jeremy Tanner
    The Columbus market is a great place to start investing in from out of state.
