Broker / Appraiser???
Hi, I am sorta in an educational bind. I hope someone can help me!?
I am very interested in Real Estate. So I am getting ready to sign up for Real Estate Appraisal school in Oct. I have been researching information and chatting on forums, etc.
I know I can't sell a dollar for .50 so I don't think I would be a good RE Agent. That's why I turned to Appraisal.
Well , an appraiser of 25 years on another forum told me "if I wanted to make big bucks" I should get my Real Estate license and become a Mortgage Broker. I know you need licenses for each of these.
Why would he tell me that?
1) Do any of you think this is a good idea?
2) How hard would it be to become a broker?
3) Should I go ahead with my plans?
Please, any information at this point would be greatly appreciated!
I am in South Carolina if it matters.
Thank you in advance!
Bill

The mortgage biz and appraisal biz are quite different. Before giving any specific recommendations, I think you need to realize that. Are you looking to get into the "real estate biz", and simply want the career that pays the most money?
Do you know specifically what goes into being a mortgage broker vs. appraiser?
You should really think about lifestyle when considering this question. One travels around much more then another. I could go on and on.
Let us know a bit more why you're deciding between these choices, and I can help some more. :groovy:
