South Florida Local - New to Bigger Pockets

Hello BP Community,

My name is Timothy Thornton and I am thrilled to join the Bigger Pockets community! I am a South Florida native who currently resides in Lake Worth Beach. My real estate journey started almost six years ago when I decided to get my RE license but I knew right away that I wanted to be an investor. I am a Florida Licensed, voluntarily inactive, real estate agent. I help manage my family's businesses (pool contracting and estate management/home watch). I have found some success as a silent investor in some out of state properties but am now looking to build a portfolio of my own. My wife and I purchased our first home (primary residence) in April 2021 and have rented out a room to a friend. We now have a baby girl on the way so house hacking no longer suits us. I look forward to making some connections with you all!

Yes, it was a hard discussion to walk away, but I felt it was the best decision for me...my dad owns a construction company specializing in concrete structures or "shell" construction , on mid-rise buildings and large commercial stuff. I did it for 15 years, but I can't shake the real estate bug.
