New to Real estate investing

Hello to all the other bigger pockets members out there!! I am new to real estate investing but have been trying to educate myself as much as possible. The first purchase my wife and I would like to make is a STR so we can also use it as a vacation home. I would then like to pursue buy and hold in small multifamily homes but am not sure about what market to pursue. I would love to know if anyone knows about any groups or meetups in the Minot ND area where i am located to start networking with folks and to start building relationships.
