I'm trying to run the number on my first STR and I dont want to miss out on any expenses. I have the main expenses like mortgage, taxes, insurance, utilities, repairs/ maintenance and cap ex. Is there anything else I would need to factor in when running the number on a short term rental?

Hey @Ryan Van Duyne,

The short-term rental business comes with many unexpected fees. I currently own 10+ rental units that I started managing with my team a little over a year ago?

Some other fees include:

  • cleaning- varies depending on whether you use software or do it yourself
  • lawn/pool care- varies depending on the number of guests you get per month
  • management software- for income statements, tenant management, etc.
  • Welcome gifts- varies depending on the number of guests you get per month

Feel free to reach out if you have any more questions regarding the process.

What fee do you expect to take up most of your revenue?
