Currently looking into purchasing Vacation rental in Florida. But wondering if you need a business license prior to renting the place.

Hey Shiela! We can discuss in our call tomorrow ;-)

Yes, you should obtain a business license with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR). It will keep your vacation rental legal when it comes to taxes. The city of Destin requires vacation rentals to be "registered" with the city annually. One of the requirements for the registration is to actually register and apply for a business license with the state. The process is simple, but it can be tedious and confusing. I suspect the various cities throughout the state have something similar in order to manage the usage of its local real estate.

Hope this helps!
