Short term rental house hack

I'm in the process of looking at duplexes for a house hack. Has anyone done a STR on one half while living in the other as opposed to the traditional LTR house hack?

My wife and I have done this strategy twice and both times it has worked out great. This is one of my favorite methods for new investors getting started. Just have to find the right property. Try searching Zillow using a keyword search. Look for 'kitchenette', 'guest suite', 'in law suite', or 'apartment'. A lot of houses with a rentable space are not marketed properly and you have to look hard. Good luck!
