Smith Mountain Lake - short term rental

Hi All,

I've been listening to Bigger Pockets for years, but have never sifted through the forums. My wife and I are excited to dig in. We are in the process of purchasing our first short term rental property on Smith Mountain Lake, in Huddleston, VA. If you've never been... It's incredible. We've been knee deep in VRBO in an attempt to estimate occupancy, rates and potential income. We've learned a lot but would love to hear from other property owners on the lake or in similar situations.

Our house (assuming it goes through) sleeps 8 with wide water and mountain views. What are your rates during peak season, off season and what kind of income are you generating? Any tips and tricks would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks! Scott
