Currently Airbnb is targeting hosts to participate and not accepting applications. Airbnb reached out to me about 4 months ago (I'm a host in San Francisco) and I went through a fairly involved qualification process (which involved another home inspection and photo shoot). They reached out to me last night to let me know that they'd be launching the program today (without me) and "a designer would be reaching out to me shortly for further consultation". Sounds like my interior decorating style didn't pass the final cut :)
To be honest I'm not super excited about the program as a host. I'm already quite satisfied with my occupancy and revenue numbers, and an "Airbnb Plus" service just screams "higher maintenance guest with more expectations". It remains to be seen what sort of premium can be charged for the Plus properties, but it would need to be a notable percentage for me to be excited to participate.
