Hi all, I'm new to the forum. Have been lurking in the forums and listening from the podcasts trying to figure out my next move as an amateur real estate investor. I purchased my first property right before the housing crash, a hotel condo in downtown Chicago. It has been truly hands off but also a slow bleed since I have little control over the property. So if anyone is interested in this investment vehicle I'd be happy to share my experiences. I'm looking to get back into investing. Have been focusing on finding a duplex but recently spent a week in a nice lake town/city and am starting to run numbers on vacation rentals. They seem to have a high upside but open you up to risk if we have economic problems down the road, so I am trying to stick to places that are more than vacation towns. What are your thoughts on vacation rentals? I don't see much posting on the subject and I think there are only two podcasts dedicated to the subject. Glad to be part of the BP community!
