Weekend STR Couple Didn't Show Up

We had a couple that booked our cabin for Apr 5-7 but never showed up. Just curious what others would do in this situation. Should be reach out? They booked and paid through VRBO so I do have a phone # for them. We have only been in the STR game for less than a year and haven't had this happen before. They never notified us they weren't coming. Just a no show. I feel like if they had a death in the family or something like that we should offer them a stay at a different date for free since they already paid. Thoughts?

Quote from @Michael Baum:

Now, if I am putting on my paranoia hat, they have the code to the door and the address. Maybe they will come back at a later date and rob the place. Or squat.

I seriously doubt that is the case, but in this day and age, you never really know. So I would change/delete their lock code asap and be on the lookout.

Thanks Michael, I program the door with the last 4 digits of my guests phone # and it's only good for their stay. Thanks to Bigger Pockets for that tip! I think I will reach out. It feels like the right thing to do.
