Best markets/locations for golf visitors?

Question

Im looking to attack the golf tourism market and am wondering where golfers seem to travel the most. I know Myrtle Beach, Scottsdale, and Pinehurst seem to be popular locations. I am worried Scottsdale may be too oversaturated. Any thoughts/recommendations?

Golf in Arizona is VERY popular! But one thing to consider with Arizona is that golf tourism is seasonal (winter & spring are very popular). But the Summer and Fall it is 100-120 degrees every single day, so many people are not golfing. There are a TON of other great things people travel to PHX and Scottsdale for, but if you're focus is solely golf tourism then you might want to consider an area with a year-round demand.

HHI is a great place to capitalize on golf tourism. 24 golf courses on the 12-mile Island. I recently sold a 4-bedroom condo right next to Harbour Town Golf Links(Where the RBC Heritage is). PP was 780k and they will do over 125k this year in gross rentals. They focus on golfers and supplement it with the beach atmosphere. I specialize in STRs on HHI and happy to add value anyway I can.

A friend of mine has had great STR results in greater Phoenix, even where it's crowded.  Most people just end up copying each other and that's when the "saturation" starts driving a race to the bottom on price. The luxury and unique experiences are still getting booked.  Not all of it's expensive either.  You can add services and upsells the clients foot the bill for, like spa/massage/private chef rather than pouring more capital into the property.

@Ethan Swat We have 90 golf courses here in the greater Myrtle Beach area... plus we're the self-proclaimed miniature golf capital of the world, LOL.  But seriously, my STR clients book a ton of golfers.  We have TopGolf, PopStroke, and a couple PGA Tour Superstores.  And now a new PGA Tour event, the Myrtle Beach Classic, will be held here in May for at least the next 4 years.  Let me know if you'd like help exploring some options!

The Phoenix Metro area is huge and has 185 courses. May not be the most 'per capita', but certainly in terms of sheer numbers, it's up there. And the weather is ok or golf from October through May. Heck, I see old duffers out there in the middle of the summer (in the morning :-).

IMHO, the summer heat is more than made up for by the year-round sun....you will rarely be rained out.

Jupiter, Florida is another avid golfer area, since Tiger Woods lives there. So is Sandestin Florida, since the golf course is somewhat famous from tournaments.

I am not an avid golfer but a ton of people visit us especially in the cooler months here.  We have properties by Innisbrook and a few other big name courses!
