Anyone have experience with the claims process for a robbery at STR

I have been a bigger pockets fan and long term owner for many years here but, for this deal, I am on the other side:

My wife and I.   Along with 2 other couples rented a very nice VRBO in Costa Rica.  About 4 hours after our arrival, we all walked into the small town for dinner.  While we were out the place was broken into and ransacked.  Through a locked gate, locked door.  Alarm....all with separate codes.   Approximately 12-13 K worth of items taken .  This includes the safe that was ripped from the wall containing our 6 passports.  Needless to say the vacation turned into a nightmare as we spent the rest of the time getting through the embassy process and back to US soil.  lots of costs there......  Ownership has now refunded our fully paid stay that was cut quite short and that is appreciated but, only scratches the surface.   We wish to give all parties the chance to do the right thing before using the review process or court of opinions.   Question is now: whether or not the liability side of the owner's policy will have coverage for our tangible and very documentable losses including additional lodging for embassy work on short notice.   Of course all feel as though a trip redo is in order and every bit of the sunk cost of this trip should be claimed.    I am curious if anyone has similar experience to relevant referral source to draw on in the BP community.   Thanks
