A great way to gain an edge in the STR market is investing in the listing photos. Whether this is just paying a professional photographer to do the job, getting a designer to give the place a little more life or both, highlighting certain areas of the home can do very well for its online traffic.

 I see professional photos as a must. I scan right by listings with crappy photos unless I have little choice.  Like I'm going to Auburn Al in a couple of weeks. They aren't that concerned with photos at all haha. But if someone is going to a vacation destination, they are looking more for something that stands out. Even if it's subliminal. 

To me, it's way more than just the equipment. Photographers know angles / lighting /the best parts of the room to highlight.

It's a tiny investment compared to the value it brings.
