Topic: Losing $1M in Syndications + What’s Next?
Speaker: J Martin
J Thomas Martin will be sharing his story about how he lost $1M on syndication investments in Multifamily, Self-Storage, and Mobile Home Parks.
What went wrong?
What can change the outcome?
What's next?
Come learn about deal analysis, risk analysis, the performance of various real estate asset classes, and lessons learned on what to avoid in your own syndications and other investments.
More about J:
After getting out of jail, going back to college, and getting a job
analyzing real estate loans and closing down banks during the financial
crisis, he was introduced to real estate investing and BiggerPockets.
He bought foreclosures and small multifamily in the SF Bay, started an Airbnb arbitrage business, hired virtual assistants, and quit his government job to explore over 60 countries around the world.
After success getting into passive syndication investing, he sold all his Bay Area properties (gasp!) and invested 100% in syndications.
When J isn't busy losing money, he runs a business & AI consulting firm, real estate investing meetups in the SF Bay, and is in the process of negotiating a venue for a big real estate conference around February 2026. He also volunteers at Youth Champions where he teaches high school students about personal and professional development.
If you'd like to join his meetups in San Leandro, SF, or
Redwood City on the first week of each month, subscribe to his meetup
