LA renting without permit
Hello everyone,
I'm thinking about purchasing a property in west LA. It is a single home with two stories zone R2. Upstair has a kitchen with stove.
As mentioned, it is a single home and has no permit for the kitchen upstair. Is is ok to rent out upstair? What legal issue would I face if city finds out? Would insurance cover any damage in case anything happens?
By the way, anyone knows how much it would cost in LA to get permit to convert the house into a duplex? I checked the city website but it didn't work.
Thank you,
