Water Bill Question

Steven Sestir
Posted

Hello everybody,

I bought my duplex in December and I received my water bill today, it was for 3 months I feel that the price was really high. The bill was $270, so $90 a month I live in upstate New York and I was wondering if this was high? What are some great suggestions that the bigger pocket community has done in the past to get their water bill down?

Thank you

Steven Sestir

@Steven Sestir that sounds normal to me personally, but this will be location specific. I recently bought a 7 unit here in Berwyn, IL, and the first thing I did was replace all 7 original toilets. I had a bill that was over $1,000 for water for the month...  not fun. Old toilets leak and the tenants won't notice this as it is pretty quiet. This is the most common way to have a big bill in real estate for water, so putting a $100 toilet in makes all the sense in the world.
