Pets and Salt in winter at a multi family rental?

For those of you with multi family properties, how do you (or your PMs) handle a request from tenants to _not_ use salt because it harms their dogs.

Totally agree that it can be harmful to pets, there are tons of articles that support that...

That said, what about all the residents without pets who probably would prefer salt because it works way better than salt.

I’m curious how others have handled this kind of situation.

I would probably spend a couple extra bucks and just buy pet safe salt. If tenant still refused, I would let them know that it is a safety issue to all residents, and to avoid liability you must make the walkways safe. If she has concerns, she can carry her dog past the salt.
