gift for tenants for hassle of reroofing?

I had tenants move in to a nice B class home 2 weeks ago.  Roof leaked this summer; we fixed it.  Roof looks like it's in great condition, but apparently the guy who put it in before we bought it drilled nails too deep.  Workmanship is shoddy.  So, this great looking roof that we fixed *leaked again*.  So, now I'm planning to replace it.

Would you pay for doggie daycare?  Or give a gift for the hassle for the tenants?  I was thinking of sending a $50 restaurant gift card.  But she hinted about having to put the dogs in daycare.   Obviously, I'm bleeding $$$ with this reroofing project but also want to keep satisfied tenants.

Thanks!

A reasonable renter will understand you are undergoing a significant expense and inconvenience yourself. It is unfortunate, but it's unfortunate for both parties. I personally wouldn't offer them anything. If they say the dog has to go to a sitter, I would express empathy and move on.

If you are going to give them something, a $50 - $100 gift card seems more than generous.
