@Leatha L. Luttrell, we have mixed reviews on Oxford.  Not the organization itself, but the people who are supposed to be running the actual house.  We've seen both the monitors and the residents relapse.  It's not a rose garden, but if you have proper supervision and management in place, it could work.

(Disclaimer:  we won't manage group homes/rehab centers any again).

@Marc Winter thank you so much for sharing your experience! I love the idea of being able to help others while also turning a profit. I’ve only ever rented to individuals before so I have no experience with this.

Hello Leatha!

I am curious to hear other's perspectives regarding Oxford Housing. I do not have any experience with them personally, but do have experience in part with master leasing agencies that provides other ways for a win win situation between landlords and helping others out. I would recommend you to speak with your local housing agency or better yet LHOT to learn about the players in your area for this. Essentially the lease is between the landlord and an agency who then sublets out to the clients they help get stabilized with your housing. Generally, the populations that are assisted are those whom may have the following backgrounds who are in need of stable housing: victim of abuse, veterans, mental health, and/or addiction. Best of luck!

@Leatha L. Luttrell, I just got my first property leased to an Oxford House charter in South Carolina, and looking to do more. I hope you've had some progress.

@Craig Herrmann, just curious... do you feel you are getting above market in rent or more average rent for your Oxford House rental?

@Paige Howarth, when compared to a single-family rental, I am getting above-market rent, and the lease term is for two years. They gave me a suggested monthly rent price. If the numbers didn't work for me financially, I would have countered with my suggested rent number. If they couldn't swing that number, then my offer for the property would have been lower.

Do you own any properties that you are leasing to OH?
