Include lease termination clause in rental application?

Kelsey P.
Posted

I was watching a video and the woman mentioned the importance of including lease termination language in the rental application. She said it was important to include something like "if it is discovered that you falsified any of the information on this rental application after a lease has been signed, your least will be immediately terminated."  I'm just paraphrasing the information in quotes. She said that the rental application is the most important document when finding tenants since it's what weeds out the good from the bad.

Anyone include such language in your rental applications? I was wondering if this would be an extra safeguarding step to take when searching for tenants.

We have wording like that in our lease as well, but not during the application process. Usually when a person "signs" their application, they are confirming the truthfulness of the information. So in a way, it's implied there. However, it's really important to have in the lease. That should be enough.
